Research Activities
RotavirusThis study focused on examination of rotavirus in pediatric and adults patients who are infected with acute and chronic gastroenteritis of various hospitals in Indonesia, especially in the vicinity of Surabaya. In addition, we also collect published papers yet related with viral diarrhea research, especially norovirus study in Indonesia. Moreover, we do research the whole genome of rotavirus and norovirus performed by Next Generation sequencing to examine of virus reassortment.We expect that our result can provide information to us and clinician about the occurence of diarrhea caused by virus, especially rotavirus and also study about the characterization of the virus. Investigation performed in Viral Diarrhea laboratory, among others:
• Immunochromatography test
• Conventional PCR and Real-Time PCR
• Direct Sequencing
• Genotyping and phylogenetic tree analysis samples from children who had been vaccinated with the rotavirus vaccine to evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine.
Norovirus
This research was conducted by collecting stool samples from pediatric and adults patients who are infected with acute and chronic gastroenteritis of various hospitals in Indonesia, especially in the vicinity of Surabaya. As Norovirus infection control in accordance to the data of previous studies in several countries, we are also doing research on stool samples from healthy people. Norovirus research results on this project is an initial information in Indonesia.
