Visit of Kanzai Medical University and the Japan Consul General to ITD UNAIR

The Institute of Tropical Disease received visits from representatives of the Japanese Consulate General and Kanzai Medical University. The representative from the Consul General is Mr. Ishii Yutaka as Deputy Consul General of Japan Surabaya and Prof. Toshimasa Nishiyama, MD & DMSc as professor and chairman of Kanzai Medical University. They were welcomed by the chairman Prof. Maria Inge Lusida, Ph.D., Deputy ITD Prof. Fedik Abdul Rantam, Prof. Soetjipto, Prof. Kazufumi Shimizu, Prof. Sri Subekti and representative researchers from the Dengue, Entomology and Avian Influenza laboratories.

In this meeting, an introduction was made to each institution starting from Kanzai Medical University which was continued by ITD UNAIR presentations. In this case, Prof. Toshimasa Nishiyama, MD & DMSc explained what things are owned and all the activities that exist at Kanzai Medical University, he also explained that they would be open to giving students the opportunity to take part in a 4-year doctoral scholarship program there. Not only that, he also explained about the research and collaboration that had been carried out by Kanzai Medical University.

From this explanation, parties from ITD UNAIR were very interested in considering and deciding on future collaboration. The hope is that ITD UNAIR can collaborate with more foreign parties to be able to develop the world of research, especially in the world of health for all foreign countries in the future.
